First Looks at the 2024 Maserati GranCabrio
The iconic Maserati GranTurismo is getting some major updates for 2024. Now known as the GranCabrio, this new generation will include some significant changes, namely to the powertrain. It will be available in both the well-known combustion engine as well as the first-ever fully electric model, but some things won’t be changing: the undeniable style, incredible performance, and unbeatable luxury that’s expected from Maserati.
The Next Generation
After the reveal of the GranCabrio prototype late last year, there’s been a lot of buzz around the newest and most innovative release from Maserati. Like the GranTurismo of the past, the new generation’s body will have the sleek lines and refined quality that the model is known for. From the looks of the prototype, the GranCabrio will feature a soft convertible top and similar body styling to the current release. The Modena and Trofeo will return, more than likely with the same high-performance 3L V6 Nettuno Twin Turbo engine as its predecessor. It’s capable of up to 550 horsepower, maintaining its capability on the road with steady control from the 8-speed automatic transmission. Power is delivered to every wheel with all-wheel drive for maximum performance under any driving condition.
One thing is notedly different, however; the new Folgore models are 100% electric, marking the start of the shift towards fully electric vehicles. The brand plans to go all-electric by 2030, and in true Maserati fashion, it’s diving right in to the deep end with the GranCabrio. It’s no surprise that a Maserati EV takes things to another level. The 92.5 kWh electric motor achieves 760 horsepower due to the expert engineering and design of the Italian-made sportscar. With an estimated 250-300 mile range on a single charge, that’s a lot of power to be had. The T-bone shaped battery configuration is optimally designed to avoid being placed under the seats, and the three-motor build balances things out. It’s equipped with DC fast-charging capability for convenient power-ups on the go.
